Madiwela

Madiwela is a house with a view.

Situated in Gwbert on the west coast of Wales, just outside the historic market town of Cardigan, the view from Madiwela is truly captivating - sweeping from the River Teifi and its estuary, across to Poppit Sands and the rolling Pembrokeshire countryside, then out to sea where you might just be lucky enough to spot a dolphin or two in the bay.

Madiwela is a house full of character. OR Madiwela is a house named after a small hamlet on the outskirts of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Having lived and worked in the Indian subcontinent and the Far East for many years, I have unwittingly accumulated enough furniture, art works and artefacts to fill a house! Therefore you will find the decor of Madiwela a cultural and eclectic mix, with my own very local and very welsh roots thrown in for good measure.

Madiwela is a house thoughtfully designed.

Full of original features both inside and out, the house was designed by my late father, the architect Llwyd Edwards BArch, RIBA. It was built in 2005 with the remit ‘modern contemporary, a space I can call home’. His attention to detail can be seen throughout, my favourite feature being the beautiful wooden staircase which acts as the centrepiece of the whole house + - but you of course can pick your own.....

Informed the clue is in the elephants

Thoroughly modern Interlocking perimeter wall specially commissioned doors and tiles by local potter to the beautiful curved and compact staircase and Madiwela is very dear to me.
